SAM GRIGORIAN

Monday, 28th June 2004, Melbourne Armenians had the rare treat of meeting Sam in person. He was welcomed at the AGBU club by Maral Chorbadjian who later presented to him a gift of famous Armenian art books. On the evening, Hye Art organised a small art exhibition representing Youth Art. Sam was very impressed with the artworks and the youngsters who had created it. Above all Sam was very touched with the warm welcome he received from everyone and "being amongst Armenians so far away from home".

Sam was invited to Melbourne by Uber Galleries in St.Kilda where his "UNANUN" works were on exhibition from 24th June to 12th August 2004. Sam is the first international artist to exhibit In Uber Gallery.
Uber Galleries is situated at 52 Fitzroy Street, St. Kilda

Sam Grigorian was born in 1957 in Yerevan, Armenia and has lived in Berlin since 1992. Sam's Armenian roots are manifested in his art especially through his very special relationship to paper which is his favored artistic medium. His decollages use paper as a multilayered medium with different textures.
